Whitley Bay: Past and Present

John Alexander

Whitley Bay is steeped in history. It started as a basic seaside resort, which at its peak saw train loads of people flocking to town for their holidays.
But time waits for no man, nor town, and toward the end of the last century, Whitley Bay sadly became known more for the buildings it was losing to mass demolition schemes, than the wonderful seaside place it used to be.

In his second book on the town, local journalist and author John Alexander, shows Whitley Bay from its early days, right up to the present.

You will be amazed at what has been lost over the years due to so-called modernisation.

With over 400 pictures, Whitley Bay: Past and Present, is sure to be a hit with locals and tourists alike and will become a book that you will treasure and hand down through the generations.
