The Arsenal Collection

Arsenal is one of the truly great names in football, the Gunners’ history studded with great players, great matches, great events. Formed in 1886 by workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, they began as Dial Square FC (the name of one of the factory’s departments) and then became Royal Arsenal and Woolwich Arsenal, finally settling on plain Arsenal when they moved to Highbury just before World War One.

The 1930s was the Gunners’ first great era, under Herbert Chapman. The came the team of the late 1940s, the Double winners of 1971 and the high-riding Arsenal of the late 1980s.

The Arsenal Collection covers all these great eras, with over 150 fascinating photographs of the players and the matches combining to produce a collection that will stir memories and will be a wonderful record of some of the greatest days in the history of this great club.
