When, in 2000, well-known Crewe photographer Gordon
Davies dipped into his huge archive of photographs
to produce Memory Lane Crewe, even he couldn’t
have dreamed of the response.
The book sold out almost immediately and was reprinted
several times. The following year, such was the Crewe
public’s insatiable hunger for the past that
a second volume was published. Again the response
was overwhelming and the book sold out once more while
sales of the first volume kept pace.
Now Gordon has done it again with yet another superb
volume containing well over 500 pictures of Crewe
down the years. In these pages, readers may see friends
and relatives – and even themselves. Local dignitaries,
members of local sports organisations, faces familiar
to whole generations of Crewe people are all here.
